Aaron Wimberly turned it on late in the season. After missing the game against Toledo, the running back had 73 or more rushing yards in five of the last six games, two broke over the century mark, and he had four of his seven touchdowns in the stretch (two against Texas Tech).
But the first half the season was a train wreck. DeVondrick Nealy was more of a threat and was used as a passing option where he did most of the damage. He also needs to learn how to hold onto the ball. The unit was a disappointment overall, but Wimberly’s second half surge kept it from being a total disaster.
