We thought we’d have a little fun here at Clones Confidential and have former Cyclones face off against each other, testing their knowledge of the current landscape of college football by picking the week’s highest profile marque matchups. Keep track of their record throughout the year for bragging rights.

More from Iowa State Cyclones

This week’s Cyclone Celebrities are: Brent Curvey, Nick Leaders, Marcel Howard, Bill Marsau, and R.J. Sumrall.

Brent Curvey

Texas A&M @ Mississippi State –
Texas A&M– Kenny Thrill is all I need to say.

Ohio State @ Maryland –
Ohio State– JT Barrett doing a really good job while Braxton Miller is out. Expect the same this week.

Iowa State @ Oklahoma State –
Oklahoma State– Offense is putting up too many points. Game will be close but OSU comes out with the win.

Alabama @ Ole Miss –
Ole Miss with the upset. Their defense is the best in the SEC so far. Expect them to show their dominance this week.

Oklahoma @ TCU –
TCU– Upset weekend! TCU plays OU close every year. With a hot-handed QB in Trevone Boykin and their defense playing well, TCU gets it.

Baylor @ Texas –
Baylor is ranked seventh for a reason. Offense will be too much for Texas.

Stanford @ Notre Dame –
Stanford wins. Too much defense for Notre Dame.

LSU @ Auburn –
Auburn– Looking to make a statement going into conference this game will set the tone.

Nebraska @ Michigan State –
Nebraska playing with confidence this year. They are the underdogs this game, but I expect them to shine.

Nick Leaders

Texas A&M @ Mississippi State –
Texas A&M– They got a scare last week in overtime and will not overlook MSU.

Ohio State @ Maryland –
Maryland– Slight upset, but Maryland is playing good football and Ohio State can’t seem to get it together without Braxton Miller.

Iowa State @ Oklahoma State –
Oklahoma State– Sorry Clone fans, but Oklahoma State has too much offense and we don’t have enough. Closer than the Baylor game though.

Alabama @ Ole Miss –
Alabama– Ole Miss hasn’t beaten anyone of significance so far this year and Alabama is starting to roll.

Oklahoma @ TCU –
Oklahoma– I still feel like they are the favorite to win it all this year and have looked good on all sides of the ball.

Baylor @ Texas –
Baylor– Texas is awful this year and Baylor has an offense that can’t be stopped.

Stanford @ Notre Dame –
Notre Dame– Should be a great game to watch, and this will be a test of how tough Notre Dame can play. Playing at home is a huge advantage here.

LSU @ Auburn –
Auburn– They seem to find ways to win the close games and LSU doesn’t seem as daunting as years past.

Nebraska @ Michigan State –
Michigan State– Nebraska has run the ball extremely well but have shown weakness on defense. Michigan State can stop the run and score timely points. Close game, but Michigan State is a little better team right now.

Bill Marsau

Texas A&M @ Mississippi State –
Kenny Hill looked great in the 4th quarter against Arkansas last weekend.  Mississippi State is much improved and still high off their victory over LSU, but I think A&M will prevail in a close game.

Ohio State @ Maryland –
Maryland is coming off their first Big Ten victory.  Ohio State is not as strong without their star QB, but they will still beat Maryland soundly.

Iowa State @ Oklahoma State
I never like picking against the Cyclones, but until they can establish some form of recognizable running game, a win in Stillwater is very unlikely.  With that said, I do think Iowa State does have some big plays in them and it will be a closer game than most think.

Alabama @ Ole Miss –
Alabama is Alabama and they are one of the best teams in the country.  Ole Miss will come out fired up, but the running game of Alabama will wear down the Rebels.

Oklahoma @ TCU –
TCU is a much better team this season.  Boykin is starting to live up to his potential.  I think this game has the greatest potential for an upset.  I think it will be a close game, but Oklahoma and their ability to execute will win out in Ft. Worth.

Baylor @ Texas –
I think this will be an exciting game to watch.  Baylor is the only team that can stop Baylor right now.  Baylor has been the ugly step child to Texas for as long as my grandpa can remember.  The Bears are still new enough to their success that I don’t see them underestimating Texas, and they wins this one big.

Stanford @ Notre Dame
I think the Fighting Irish have a very strong team this season.  Everett Golson took his punishment last season and has put together an amazing season so far.  He will help lead the Irish against the fighting pine trees.

LSU @ Auburn
I think this game will come down to the team that makes the fewest mistakes and I think the close edge goes to the home team in this game.

Nebraska @ Michigan State
This is a battle of the two best teams in the Big Ten in my opinion.  I think that the defense of Michigan State will rise up and keep Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah under 100 yds rushing.  The Cornhuskers are not near as good of a team when their running game is taken away from them.

Marcel Howard

Texas A&M @ Mississippi State
Clash of two unbeatens. This should be a quite a match up…probably one of the better games this weekend. I think this game will be pretty even for the most part, but I see Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott being too much for the Aggie Defense to handle as MSU walks away with the upset.

Ohio State @ Maryland –
I see Maryland putting up a fight early on, but eventually succumbing to Buckeyes in the second half. Ohio State wins this one.

Iowa State @ Oklahoma State
As much as I would love to see Iowa State pull of the upset, I just don’t think we have enough talent on our defensive side to stop Okie State’s high powered offense, and I don’t think our offense can keep up with the pace of their scoring throughout the game. We would seriously need about 3-4 turnovers to have a chance this week, guys. Please, Cyclones, prove me wrong. But I see Oklahoma State winning this one.

Alabama @ Ole Miss
Ole Miss has been quite impressive this year, and if Alabama is going to be upset this year, this is the game its going to be. The key to this game will be Ole Miss’s ability to stop the rushing attack of Alabama. If they can keep rushing yards down, Ole Miss will win this game.

Oklahoma @ TCU –
I think TCU is the second most improved team in the Big 12. I don’t see them as a push over at all. I see Oklahoma struggling early in this one, but eventually squeaking by with the W. Oklahoma wins by a small margin.

Baylor @ Texas –
Does anybody even know WHO Texas is this year?? Didn’t think so. A lot of talent with no cohesion or leadership within the huddle. Baylor is going to be all over Texas in this one and come out victorious.

Stanford @ Notre Dame –
Stanford wins this game due to the fact that I hate Notre Dame. JOIN A CONFERENCE!

LSU @ Auburn
Great match up! Really this is going to be anybody’s game. Which ever team can win the turn over battle will win this game. Because of the home field advantage, I’m going to give this one to Auburn.

Nebraska @ Michigan State
MSU’s defense is going to be way too much for the Huskers to handle. But I see both teams struggling to score. Low scoring game but Michigan State wins. Go Green.

RJ Sumrall

Texas A&M @ Mississippi State
I feel that Rebels QB Dak Prescott will be unstoppable.

Ohio State @ Maryland –
They have too much talent for the Terps to hang with.

Alabama @ Ole Miss –
They are too good and they are going to get better because of the young guys.

Oklahoma @ TCU
I feel an upset.

Baylor @ Texas –
Big 12 champions this year.

Stanford @ Notre Dame –
They have too much power and are super disciplined.

LSU @ Auburn
5 vs 15. The numbers say it all.

Nebraska @ Michigan State
I just can’t vote for the University of Nebraska.
