Cyclones in the NFL: A.J. Klein, Leonard Johnson continue to impress

Two former Iowa State defenders had more great days in the NFL last Sunday, but just one had their team get a big victory.

More from Iowa State Cyclones

  • A.J. Klein (Panthers) recorded seven tackles (four solo). Three of them happened in the first half and had two solo hits in the first drive of the second half.
  • Kelechi Osemele (Ravens) was praised by center Jeremy Zuttah, who said he has the best guards in the league. He had another great day, aiding in the line which didn’t allow a sack and allowed Joe Flacco to just get hit twice. They also allowed three tackles for loss.
  • Leonard Johnson (Buccaneers) had eight tackles (four solo) and deflected a pass. He had three tackles in the last drive in the first quarter. He also picked up a defensive holding call early in the second quarter which gave the Steelers a first down and eventually got a touchdown.
  • Ahtyba Rubin (Browns) didn’t play as Cleveland was on a BYE week. Jeremiah George (Jaguars) was inactive.
