Carmon Wilson: Joined Clones Confidential last month. He began in writing career covering Cyclone sports for the Iowa State Daily, and then years with Rivals.com and Scout.com. His passion for Iowa State began when his father took him to his first collegiate game in Ames in 1993. He’s an Iowa State alum and now twenty year season ticket holder for football with a passion for Cyclone athletics.

West Virginia @ Maryland – Last season, Maryland crushed West Virginia 37-0. However this year I think the Mountaineers have a chip on their shoulder. After playing Alabama close in Atlanta, and blowing out Towson last week, Maryland fumbled 7 times in their season opener against James Madison. I’m taking the Mountaineers.

Georgia @ South Carolina – Last season Georgia’s All-American Todd Gurley ran for 132 yards, and scored two touchdowns. Gamecocks Coach Steve Spurrier has his back against the wall, and needs to win this game if they have any hope of getting back into the playoff picture. I just don’t think they have the firepower to do it. I’ll take Georgia.

Arkansas @ Texas Tech – The Razorbacks have two all-conference type running backs in Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins. Tech hasn’t shown that they can stop anybody on defense so I’m going to take Arkansas here.

Iowa State @ Iowa – As noted in my article earlier, the Cyclone’s defense is young. Very young. Much like Arkansas, Iowa will look to control the clock and play game management by limiting the Cyclones offense as much as possible. The Hawks haven’t shown much over the first two weeks. If you reverse the schools schedules, I think both teams are 1-1 heading into this game. Iowa has major issues in their special teams, and with All-American Brandon Scherff not able to play, I think Cory Morrissey has a great day going against the redshirt freshmen taking Scherff’s place. My heart tells me to pick the Clones. My head tells me to take the Hawks. Heart wins – I choose the Cyclones.

Tennessee @ Oklahoma – Bob Stoops needs to send a message that they belong in the playoffs at the end of the year. I think Oklahoma wins and runs up the score.

UCLA @ Texas – Texas is hurting. Since being hired, Charlie Strong has kicked off eight players from his team. And both starting offensive tackles are suspended along with RB Daje Johnson, and the status of safety Josh Turner is still in the air. Despite all of that, UCLA has only won both games by a combined score of 15 points – against Memphis and Virginia. Not exactly football powerhouse teams. Seeing that this one is played inside AT&T Stadium in Texas, I think the Longhorns find a way to pull this one out.
