After Iowa State women’s soccer lost the last two of their first three road games, the Cyclones opened victoriously at home to move to 2-2 on the young season.

More from Iowa State Cyclones

Here’s been the results of the first four games so far for the Cyclones:

  • at Mississippi State: W 5-1
  • at Mississippi: L 0-1
  • vs USC (at South Bend, IN): L 1-3
  • vs St. Louis: W 3-1

The squad has been fairly accurate so far on their shots. Of their 34 total shots, 19 of them have been on target. That equals out to 55.9 percent efficiency, which they’d love to keep that up as the season progresses. In comparison, their opponents are just 37 percent efficient.

Koree Willer and Adalie Schmidt lead the team with two goals apiece; Schmidt also has an assist and all three of her shots have been on goal. Schmidt got her assist in the win over St. Louis, and both of them were responsible for the victory in Ames (via Cyclones.com):

"The two sophomores have formed quite a connection, hooking up for goals in each of the last two games. This time, Koree Willer was set up by Schmidt in the 26th minute to put the Cyclones up 1-0.  Willer returned the favor to her teammate dishing a pass ahead of the defense finding a wide-open Schmidt who connected on the Cyclones’ second goal in the 71st minute. The duo is tied for first on the team in goals scored on the season with three goals each."

Iowa State soccer will finish up this two-game homestand with Iowa at home on Friday night. They’ll have three road games afterwards, starting in North Dakota State and then heading to Colorado for a couple of matches against Northern Colorado and Denver.
