Cyclones in the NFL: Will Jeremiah George be cut from the New York Jets?
By Brian Spaen
It’s a pretty bleak update for former Iowa State football players in the NFL. We look at both players having the potential to get cut on the New York Jets, A.J. Klein not doing much with the Carolina Panthers, and Jake Knott still sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Giants 35, Jets 24
— NYJ: Jeremiah George may be on the cutting block. According to One Jet at a Time, George will be fighting for a practice squad position.
"George has looked poor, to say the least, in his limited time with the Jets. He was responsible for a preseason touchdown against Cincinnati and has just two tackles, thus far. In comparison, A.J. Edds, a surprise linebacker for Gang Green, has led the team both games with eight and six tackles, respectively."
Jeremy Reeves is still battling a knee injury. He was limited in practice and it’s unknown when he will return.
Patriots 30, Panthers 7
This was ugly the whole way. New England was up 30-0 before Carolina finally scored in the last two minutes. Tom Brady was near perfect — 17-of-21 passing, 204 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
— CAR: A.J. Klein only recorded one solo tackle in the game. It happened when he took down Jonas Gray at the 6:16 mark on 1st and 10. Two plays later, the Patriots completed a 40-yard pass for a touchdown to make it 10-0. The drive started all the way at the NE 9 yard line.
Eagles 31, Steelers 21
Nick Foles looked great completing 19-of-29 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown. Jeremy Maclin was the go-to receiver with 6 catches (on 8 targets) for 43 yards. Running back Matthew Tucker had the bulk of the carries (10 total) for 46 yards and 2 touchdowns.
— PHI: Jake Knott has yet to play in the preseason. He was among the inactives going into the game with a lingering hamstring injury. It’s very likely that with the PED suspension, we won’t be seeing Knott in action until October.
