NBA Summer League 2014: Chris Babb plays limited minutes as Boston Celtics get pummeled

Chris Babb played for less than 10 minutes as the Indiana Pacers smothered the Boston Celtics in the NBA Summer League on Monday afternoon.

More from Iowa State Cyclones

Babb clocked just 8:17 in the game, appearing at the beginning of the second quarter but quickly sitting down after picking up two fouls. He also appeared late in the third quarter and then sat down again almost four minutes into the final period.

Only one shot was attempted per appearance. Both again were 3-point attempts, draining the first one and missing the second one. Babb finished with just three points, picked up three fouls, and one turnover.

The game itself was about as boring as Iowa State taking down a team like North Carolina Hampton Central in the final three quarters. Boston actually had a 30-14 lead after the first quarter but then only scored 11 points in the second quarter and 16 points in the third quarter while Indiana scored 65 points collectively.

The Pacers shot 48.4 percent from the field as a team. Four of the five starters scored in the double digits and one player off the bench, Sadiel Rojas, scored 11 points. Willie Reed led the way for Indiana with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. He made 8-12 from the field while staying away from downtown.

Meanwhile, the Celtics hit just a meager 34.3 from the field. Kelly Olynyk led the way for them with 15 points and 6 rebounds, but he also picked up all 6 fouls and fouled out. Phil Pressey had 13 points and 6 rebounds. Marcus Smart had 11 points, 4 assists, and 4 personal fouls.

Since we know that Melvin Ejim won’t be appearing for the Philadelphia 76ers in Orlando, we won’t be worrying about them anymore. Next up for Boston is Detroit. Tip-off will be at 6:00 PM Central time and it will be televised on NBATV.
