Predicting the 2012 Big 12 Tournament

facebooktwitterreddit

I know some of you really don’t want to see it, but I think Mizzou will win the Big 12 Tournament in their last year.  However, I did have a hard time picking them over the Cyclones because Iowa State very well could have beat them twice in the regular season.  Below is how likely I see each team winning the entire tournament.

Missouri – I truly believe that Iowa State may be Mizzou’s toughest test in the tournament.  Missouri let one slip away against Kansas last time they played and I believe they get their revenge. 35% chance of heading to the SEC with the Big 12 title.

Kansas – Kansas was the best team in the Big 12 in the regular season and are favorites to win the tournament.  Like I’ve said I like Mizzou if the two teams play.  Kansas still has a great shot of winning it all.  25%

Iowa State – If they can beat Texas (which they should) and play Mizzou, I think it can be a real close game.  If they can get past Missouri, Iowa State has already beaten Kansas this year as you know.  15%

Kansas State – KSU has defeated Missouri twice and Baylor once.  Wouldn’t be shocked if they won it.  10%

Baylor – The Baylor-KSU should be a close and great game.  Baylor has been in the top 10 for most of the year, but they are 0-4 against Kansas and Mizzou this year.  10%

Texas – Texas finished the Big 12 with a 9-9 record, but failed was 2-8 against the top teams in the Big 12 (Kanas, Baylor, K-State, Mizzou, and ISU).  2.5%

Oklahoma State – If Oklahoma State or another bottom half team in the Big 12 somehow wins the tournament, I would be extremely shocked.  Highly, highly doubt that OSU will win it, but they have beaten Mizzou and ISU.  1.5%

Oklahoma – The Sooners did beat K-State twice.  .8%

Texas A&M – The Aggies are currently on a 5-game losing streak.  .2%

Texas Tech – I will do anything you want if Texas Tech even gets to the semifinals.  .00000000001%
