After the disappointment of not being drafted last night, DeAndre Kane got a pretty good consolation prize this morning.

NBA.com basketball insider, Adam Zagoria, reports this morning that Kane will play for the Los Angeles Lakers during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

If there’s any chance that a player could make a shot with one of the NBA’s premier destinations, it’s right now. The Lakers currently have Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and Robert Sacre on a contract with a team option for Kendall Marshall.

That’s it. And we don’t know what direction the Lakers will go with Nash. He could possibly be on the move once free agency hits.

As of this posting, there’s been no news on if Melvin Ejim has received an invitation to any summer leagues.

The NBA Summer League runs from July 5th through July 21st. The Lakers will be playing three games before everybody plays in a tournament. Here’s their schedule for the early rounds, and two games will be nationally televised:

  • Friday, July 11th: Toronto vs LA Lakers – 5:00 PM CT (TV: NBATV)
  • Sunday, July 13th: LA Lakers vs New Orleans – 3:30 PM CT
  • Monay, July 14th: Golden State vs LA Lakers – 9:00 PM CT (TV: NBATV)

Tournament play begins on Wednesday, July 16th.

You can supplement NBATV’s coverage by getting the NBA Summer League Live subscription for $14.99, which streams every game online.
