Melvin Ejim gives introduction at NBA Draft Scouting Combine

Former Iowa State forward Melvin Ejim gives us an introduction to himself as he prepares for the NBA Draft Scouting Combine.

The NBA Draft’s official Vine account posted 30 player introductions (at the time of this posting). A lot of very familiar names are on the list, including former Iowa State star, Melvin Ejim.

What’s that? Condemn the Vines and refuse to open any them? Here’s a transcription of the five-second video:

"I’m Melvin Ejim. Big 12 Player of the Year. Explosive. Versatile. I’m ready for the NBA Draft."

Five seconds doesn’t give you a lot of time to speak, so “explosive” and “versatile” works here. I personally would have just gone for a super-speed recap of the 49-point demolition against TCU.

Here’s what the scouts are saying in more detail about Ejim heading into the combine (via NBADraft.net):

Ejim is being compared to DeMarre Carroll (Atlanta Hawks) and P.J. Tucker (Phoenix Suns). I’d say he’s more toward Tucker (good fit at small forward) and will likely average around the same number of points and rebounds per game (something like 9 pts, 6 rebs).

Hopefully we won’t have to wait for Ejim to play in the NBA like Tucker. After playing with the Toronto Raptors, Tucker played internationally for five years before landing with the Suns last season.

Ejim has an overall rating of 86 at NBADraft.net, and is looking like a serious NBA candidate as his name appears on multiple mock drafts.

The 2014 NBA Draft will take place on June 16th. You can check out the scouting combine on Thursday and Friday. More information on that is provided here.
