Iowa State football recruiting: Florida DT to visit Cyclones this weekend
By Brian Spaen
A lot of Iowa State football prospects are coming to Ames this weekend. One of them that will be making an official visit is a 3-star Florida defensive tackle that the Cyclones offered back in May.
De’Amontae Jackson is listed as both an inside linebacker and defensive tackle at 247Sports. According to the recruiting service, Jackson has a composite ranking of 33rd nationally among defensive tackles and is the 90th best athlete in the state of Florida.
Among a few national recruiting writers and a contributor on 247Sports, Iowa State is now a favorite to land Jackson getting two-thirds of the votes compared to Florida State. However, Marshall and Iowa State are considered the two hottest candidates to land Jackson.
The 6-foot, 270-pound tackle has also received offers from Auburn, Miami (FL), Michigan State, South Florida, and Utah. Jackson received his offer from the Cyclones back on May 19th last year. There hasn’t been an official offer from the Seminoles that’s been reported.
Jackson was planning to visit Ames sometimes this year and decided on short notice to make the trip this weekend. One of the more attractive reasons is because College GameDay will be coming to Iowa State basketball’s game against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday night.
The defensive tackle played at North Marion in Citra, Florida. On Hudl, he’s coined with the “Money” nickname. There’s also a highlight video posted on his account back in mid-November.
Let’s hope Jackson enjoys his time in Ames and give him some good vibes on Twitter.
