Iowa State men’s basketball: Everbody made highlight reel in Viterbo beatdown
By Doug Winkey
As expected, the Iowa State men’s basketball team crushed Viterbo by a score of 115-48 with every player receiving substantial minutes by the end. This is one of the biggest margins of victory in Cyclone history. In addition, every player had highlight reel plays that were partially brought on by the overwhelming talent compared to the Wisconsin NAIA school.

Given the domination, the minutes got spread around a fair amount, and so it is tough to single players out. Six players scored in double figures, led by Sherron Dorsey-Walker and Naz Long who each had 17 points. I would say in general that everyone looked smooth as the team shot 60 percent from the field and everyone received at least 15 minutes except for the newest walk-on, Daniel Stensland. Other important stats are 26 assists to only 10 turnovers on the night and 15 steals, showing that the team could be developing a strong nose for the ball with the number of skilled guards available.
All the players looked like they were having fun out there. Bryce Dejean-Jones looked as cool as the other side of the pillow with his 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Georges Niang also looks recovered from his foot injury with 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting. The punctuation on the game came from Daniel Edozie who had a pretty epic slam with the team up 97-38.
Nobody played a ton of minutes, so don’t read too much into this. Plus, they will still have to incorporate Abdel Nader and Jameel McKay once they become eligible, but tonight was certainly an exhibition to watch.
