Iowa State offered Nickelson back on October 26th, and it only took him a little over a week to make it official with the Cyclones.
Back during his initial recruitment out of high school two years later, Nickelson received offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Houston, Purdue, SMU, and Texas Tech. Instead, Nickelson went through the JUCO route and there was some help from a Cyclone player — freshman offensive lineman Cole Anderson, who’s also from League City.
Nickelson will be officially visiting the school on November 22nd, when the Red Raiders, who did offer him two years ago, will come in to Ames.
The offensive lineman has a huge frame and will look like a beast on the field. 247Sports checks him in at 6-foot-9 and 319 pounds. Among JUCOs, he’s ranked as the 23rd best offensive tackle and 20th best athlete in Texas.
Despite having unofficial visits at mostly Southeastern schools during his initial recruitment two years ago, Nickelson looks pretty sold on the Cyclones thanks to close contact with one of his friends. He will have three years of eligibility remaining when he comes in next season.
