Iowa State women’s basketball: Cyclones land top national prospect
By Brian Spaen
There’s been a lot of focus on the Iowa State men’s basketball squad with all their recruits, but the women’s basketball team may have picked up the biggest recruit of them all.
Multiple outlets have reported that guard TT Starks, ranked as the top recruit in women’s basketball for 2015, has committed to the Cyclones.
Starks is the second commitment to the women’s basketball team alongside Bridget Carleton, a Canadian that committed back in April.
The Ames Tribune reports that the decision came much earlier than anticipated, but everything fell in to place after talking with her mother and having a close friend as a teammate.
"She wasn’t planning on making a decision until August or September, but after talking with her mother on Tuesday night, she was confident that ISU, where she’ll play with hometown friend Seanna Johnson, was the place for her.“We had a conversation about it, and I decided that’s what I wanted to do,” Starks said. “It’s not such a far distance, where (her mother) can come watch me play, and I’ll be with one of my friends … I like how committed the coaches were to having me come there.”"
Starks checks in at 5-foot-10. She passes up other top schools in the region such as Minnesota, Iowa, and Notre Dame that also have been looking at her heavily.
