Atlanta Falcons interested in former Iowa State LB Tim Dobbins

After the Atlanta Falcons received some devastating news about linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, they’re looking at veteran replacements on short notice. Tim Dobbins may fit that bill.
According to ESPN (via Pro Football Talk), the Falcons are interested in the former Cyclone’s services.
"According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, the Falcons are bringing veteran linebacker Tim Dobbins in for a visit."
Dobbins is an eight-year veteran in the NFL that found some resurgence last season. He spent his first four years with the San Diego Chargers, one with the Miami Dolphins, and the last two seasons with the Houston Texans.
The former Cyclone had three years of recording 57, 55, and 47 total tackles in a season (between 2008-2010) after a season-low 12 tackles (10 solo, 2 assists) in his first season with the Texans, he rebounded with 43 (30 solo, 13 assists). He also recorded four fumble recoveries, deflected four passes, and picked it off once last season.
The Falcons are looking for instant help to band-aid their linebacker position after Sean Weatherspoon had a season-ending Achilles tear during OTA (organized team activities) offseason workouts.
Atlanta is also “looking hard” had picking up Jonathan Vilma, a 10-year veteran that spent his last six seasons with the New Orleans Saints. However, he only appeared in one game last season and has had knee issues since 2011 that’s kept him from completing a full season.
