Iowa State men’s basketball: Applebee’s introduces ‘Hoiburger’
By Brian Spaen
Now you can eat like a champion by heading down to an Applebee’s in Central Iowa and getting a Hoiburger.
The franchise restaurant announced the new burger, and a poster went up showing the 1,200-calorie (not an official amount) big guy held by Fred Hoiberg himself.
What does the burger include? A half pound of ground beef with sliced ham, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion. Can’t decide on which side to get between French fries and onion rings? Don’t worry, you’re getting both of them.
The burger can also be replaced with a chicken breast. A price difference isn’t shown, but don’t be surprised if it’s a couple dollars more.
This whole promotion is for a good cause. Applebee’s has teamed up with the United Way of Story County (where Ames is in) and a dollar of every order will be given to the charity. You also get one entry into receiving courtside seats to the upcoming men’s basketball season.
Because it’s my duty, I’ll be trucking down to Applebees in the near future to give you a full review on this meal. Until then, you can try it out yourself — it’s available in participating restaurants now.
