Big 12 football picks: Week one

TCU opens up with the Big 12’s toughest opponent this week, taking on 12th-ranked LSU.
Finally, the time to pick games is here, and all my knowledge will be thoroughly tested for ridicule when the results are given.
Since last year’s edition of the football picks were pretty embarrassing (both picking games and content-wise), Cy the mascot has been fired and I’ll just be doing them. The goal will be to get either some sort of staff or some other people make picks as well as we get closer to the conference season.
Every team plays except the Kansas Jayhawks because, well, you’d probably forget to include them too when making out the football schedule.
Central times and TV networks are listed. Rankings reflect the latest USA Today poll. Teams from FCS are labeled. DirecTV channels are labeled when necessary.
Friday, August 30th
Texas Tech Red Raiders at Southern Methodist Mustangs
7:00 PM – ESPN
Prediction: TTU – It’s going to be tough with a new head coach and true freshman, not to mention that former Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert is still with the Mustangs.
North Dakota State Bison (FCS) at Kansas State Wildcats

Prediction: KS ST
Saturday, August 31st
William and Mary Tribe (FCS) at West Virginia Mountaineers

Prediction: WVU
Mississippi State Bulldogs at (13) Oklahoma State Cowboys
2:30 PM – ABC or ESPN2 (DirecTV: ch. 209-1)
Prediction: OK ST
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at (16) Oklahoma Sooners
6:00 PM – FOX Sports PPV (DirecTV: ch. 786)
Prediction: OKLA – Sun Belt teams have never faired too well with Oklahoma. Don’t expect much here despite ULM taking bigger opponents to the final round last season.

New Mexico State Aggies at (15) Texas Longhorns

Prediction: TEX – The Longhorns will have a new Aggie team to pound on.
