Even if the Iowa State Cyclones don’t put on the best show in football every week, they at least have a great venue to show for it.

The Sports Turf Managers Association recognized how well Jack Trice Stadium has been taken care of, awarding Iowa State with the 2012 College Football Field of the Year. The official Cyclones’ website had the press release and noted who was responsible for taking care of the field.

"Athletics turf grounds manager Tim Van Loo has put in the time and diligent work to make Jack Trice Stadium look gorgeous. Van Loo and his student staff, Blake Nelson, Colton Metzger, Josh Lenz, Adam Gregersen and Kevin Hansen, gathered for a photo shoot this morning to commemorate their outstanding achievement."

Most notable in the list is former wide receiver Josh Lenz who was among the student staff that helped out this past season.

Other fields at universities that have been awarded are Ryan Field at Northwestern last season, Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech in 2008, Kilkenny Practice Field at Oregon in 2007, and Greentree Football Facility at Miami, Florida.

Jack Trice Stadium has been honored with the award before back in 1996. The only other field that’s been awarded two times was Ryan Field back in 2000.
