Iowa State Football: Pro Day Results

Plenty of Cyclone hopefuls for the NFL participated in today’s Iowa State pro day, including both linebackers Jake Knott and A.J. Klein healed up, defensive tackle Jake McDonough, and wide receivers Josh Lenz and Jerome Tiller.

Here are all the results of the workouts thanks to the Cyclone Football (@CycloneFB) Twitter account:

Bench Press

  • A.J. Klein – 24 reps of 225 pounds
  • Jake Knott – 20 reps of 225 pounds
  • Jake McDonough – 37 reps of 225 pounds
  • Josh Lenz – 21 reps of 225 pounds

McDonough’s 37 reps was one shy of the highest total reps given at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine. Both Margus Hunt (SMU) and Brandon Williams (MO Southern State) tied with 38 reps at the top.

Vertical Leap

  • A.J. Klein – 33 inches
  • Jake Knott – 34 inches
  • Josh Lenz – 38.5 inches
  • Jerome Tiller – 39 inches

In comparison with the NFL Scouting Combine, running back Christine Michael (Texas A&M) had the highest result at 43 inches. The top 10 performers scored 40 inches or higher.

40-Yard Dash

Josh Lenz

  • First attempt – 4.38 seconds
  • Second attempts – 4.35 seconds

In comparison with the NFL Scouting Combine, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (Texas) finished well ahead in first place with 4.27 seconds. Lenz’s second attempt would have placed him in fifth place if official.

According to NFL Draft Scout, only A.J. Klein is projected to be drafted, slotting him to be picked in the fifth round. Jake Knott is rated 34th out of 225 outside linebackers and 366th overall.
