Twitter is one of the most easily accessible social media networks out there, and perhaps it reveals people that do the dumbest things.
Kansas men’s basketball guard, Elijah Johnson, put up 39 points and seven assists and gave his team the boost to win 108-96 in overtime. Most notably, he was a part of the no-call when driving into the lane knocking down Georges Niang and didn’t get an obvious charge call. He also hit two dagger 3’s to put overtime away.
Obviously, with a loss this upsetting, it sparks an emotional reaction from Iowa State fans. Including dumb ones that posted their thoughts on Twitter such as death threats, classy racist remarks, and taking “a gun onto the Kansas team bus.” Police are now investigating the alleged fans who posted the remarks on the social media network.
These people making such posts simply don’t get that Twitter, or any social media, can be seen by anyone. E-mails can be retrieved by anyone. The only thing that can’t be retrieved is word-of-mouth that isn’t being recorded by anyone.
Everyone has their opinions, especially when emotional right after a game. But keep insensitive thoughts to yourself, or if you have to share them to someone, don’t do it around the Superdome in Louisiana.
