Cy’s Big 12 Football Picks: Week 10

It’s back to the drawing board for Cy after just going 2-3 last week and a worse 1-4 against the spread. While Vegas remains easily more smart than he is, the mascot looks to a brand new month and plans to rebound with this week’s picks.

Overall record: 39-14, at the spread: 16-27 … All games are on Saturday and all times are listed as CT. All rankings are based off the BCS rankings, lines are the latest from LVH on Friday morning. Teams underlined means Cy is picking the favored team to cover the spread.

11:00am – (12)Oklahoma (5-2) at Iowa State (5-3)
Line: ISU +12 | TV: ABC (WOI)

Yes, when you’re facing Oklahoma after a loss, it’s not pretty. Everything points to the Cyclones suffering a big loss at home, especially with losing a leader on defense like Jake Knott. Things look grim, but they need all the support they can get! Prediction: ISU

2:00pm – Texas Christian (5-3) at (21)West Virginia (5-2)
Line: WVU -4 | TV: FOX

The bye week gives a chance for WVU to rest and buckle down for the rest of the season. Hopefully the defense found answers. I really like Trevone Boykin for TCU, but after watching them in their first of two straight road games, I can’t pick them on the road again. Prediction: WVU

2:30pm – (23)Texas (6-2) at (18)Texas Tech (6-2)
Line: TTU -7 | TV: ABC

Last time the Red Raiders faced a defense this bad (WVU) they killed them at home. I’ll give the Mountaineers a pass because it was their second road game and trip to Texas in two weeks. However, the game against Kansas was discouraging for Texas, it took their backup quarterback to come in and win the game. I really don’t know how they’re bowl eligible. Prediction: TTU

2:30pm – Kansas (1-7) at Baylor (3-4)
Line: BAY -17 | TV: FOX Sports Networks

It’s the obvious dumpster fire of a game in the conference this week. What’s more ridiculous is the spread. Baylor by 17? Please, I would take the points in a heartbeat. But considering my record with Vegas, I’M TAKING THE OPPOSITE!!!! Prediction: BAY

7:00pm – (24)Oklahoma State (5-2) at (2)Kansas State (8-0)
Line: KSU -9 | TV: ABC

I doubted Kansas State and they showed me up. I still believe that KSU will drop a game before the regular season is over; the Big 12 is just too tough. It just depends when. The Cowboys have become slightly overrated by picking off some teams at home, I don’t like them going to Manhattan and taking this one. KSU moves to three games away from an undefeated season. Prediction: KSU
