Cy’s Big 12 Football Picks: Week 9

If it wasn’t for Cy’s homerism, he would have hit a home run last week. He went 4-1 in both straight up picks and against the spread. That included taking the points Texas gave, and laying all 35 points with Oklahoma against Kansas. Cy will try to recreate the magic again this week, and hopefully the Cyclones will help him out.

All rankings are based off the BCS rankings, lines are the latest from LVH on Friday morning. Teams underlined means Cy is picking the favored team to cover the spread. West Virginia has a bye this week.

Baylor at least had an offense that can take advantage of Texas’ awful tackling. Kansas doesn’t even that, nor do they have a pulse on either side of the points. Give me all the points. Prediction: TEX

The Big 12 is known for its unpredictability, and I don’t believe anyone will get through the conference without suffering a loss. Kansas State faced pressure at a tough venue in Ames and then dominated Morgantown, passing with flying colors. A natural letdown will happen this week. I believe the Wildcats are favored too high, and I’m picking the big upset that could kill off a chance for a Big 12 team to play in the national championship – unless OU has something to say about it. Prediction: TTU

2:30pm – TCU (5-2) at Oklahoma State (4-2)

Call me nuts, but I’m a believer in Trevone Boykin and the Horned Frogs team. They’ve responded well to adversity. I like them straight up against the Cowboys that benefitted from facing an Iowa State squad that had no leadership a week ago. Prediction: TCU

6:00pm – Baylor (3-3) at Iowa State (4-3)

The Cyclones are favored for once?? Guess that helps when you face the worst defense in the nation. Prediction: ISU

7:00pm – (5)Notre Dame (7-0) at (8)Oklahoma (5-1)
Line: OU -11.5 | TV: ABC

Vegas generally knows more than us when it comes to the lines. They sniffed out WVU against Texas Tech and only favored them by three points. With all the talk about the Irish’s “great schedule,” the only offense with a pulse was against Michigan. Oh, they play nothing but BCS opponents. Guess we can give props to Northwestern for scheduling Syracuse, Vanderbilt, and Boston College. Prediction: OU
