Cy’s Big 12 Football Picks: Week 3

It was an okay weekend for picks as Cy went 5-3 to have a new record of 13-4 on the season. However, betting doesn’t continue to be very strong, only picking one line correctly and dropping another four. His total record at the spread is at a paltry 2-8.

All games are on Saturday, and all times are central. Picks that are underlined are picked to cover the spread. Oklahoma has a bye this week.

11:00 a.m. – Louisiana-Lafayette (2-0) @ Oklahoma State (1-1) (-22.5) – TV: FSN

The only mascot name better than me are the Ragin Cajuns. That’s not enough to beat the Cowboys. Prediction: OSU

11:00 a.m. – (15)TCU (2-0) @ Kansas (1-1) (+20.5) – TV: FX

It’s the first Big 12 conference game of the year! And the Horned Frogs will come in looking like they’ve been there longer than the Jayhawks. By the way, TCU’s mascot is third-best ever. Prediction: TCU

3:30 p.m. – (8)West Virginia (2-0) vs James Madison (1-0) @ Landover, Maryland (NL) – TV: ROOT Sports Pittsburgh

I don’t even know what the hell is going on here. Two east coast teams I’ve barely heard of, playing somewhere I never heard of, on a network that I don’t even know where to find it. Prediction: WVU

6:00 p.m. – North Texas (1-1) @ (14)Kansas State (2-0) (-28) – TV: FSN

I still love Dan McCarney!! But Colin Klein destroyed me last week. Kind of like he will destroy McCarney’s team. Sorry Dan 🙁 Prediction: KSU

6:00 p.m. – New Mexico (1-1) @ Texas Tech (2-0) (-32) – TV: FOX College Sports

The Lobos had something like 30 yards passing against Texas? But they ran a bunch, and the last time I saw Tommy Tuberville, my Clones ran about 1,000 yards on his team. But I can’t pull the trigger on an upset. Prediction: TTU

6:00 p.m. – Sam Houston State (1-0) @ Baylor (1-0) (NL) – TV: FOX College Sports

SMU is pretty much Sam Houston State, and we all saw how that one turned out a few weeks ago. Prediction: Baylor

7:00 p.m. – Western Illinois (2-0) @ Iowa State (2-0) (NL) – Web: Cyclones.tv

For once in my life, I’d like to see my team pound all over some crappy FCS school. Pleeeeeeeeeeease!! Prediction: ISU Score: 45-10 Clones!

8:15 p.m. – (12)Texas (2-0) @ Mississippi (2-0) (+10) – TV: ESPN

This is quite the non-conference game down there, people are renting out their houses for $20,000 for people to stay! It’s a big deal both fanbases, but I think the Longhorns have that edge to pull this one out on a last-second field goal. Prediction: Texas
