Football Recruiting: Devyn Salmon Close to Michigan State

Earlier this month, it turned into a race between two schools for Florida recruit Devyn Salmon. Now, it turns out that he’s just about ready to pull the trigger on a Big Ten school.

The defensive tackle will likely be deciding on Michigan State in the very near future, according to Big Ten News (@LoyalBig10Fans):

It would mark the 10th commitment for the Spartans. Earlier this month, it was determined that Big 12 newcomer West Virginia and the Big Ten school were in the race to get Salmon.

Other schools that gave the tackle an offer were Iowa State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio, South Alabama, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-2, 277-pound recruit isn’t ranked very high in recruiting services; Salmon varies as a two-star or three-star prospect. ESPN has him ranked highest in the position nationally at 74th.

As a junior last season at Plant City, Salmon had 56 true tackles, three forced fumbles, and two sacks.
