Recruiting: Ishmail Hayes

Last night, the Cyclones landed JUCO DE Ishmail Hayes from Blinn College (the same JUCO that produced Cam Newton). Hayes stands at 6’6 and weighs in around at 245 pounds. Good news for Paul Rhoads and the staff is that Hayes is still growing and gaining weight. He only weighed 195 pounds entering his freshman year. Also, he played OLB in high school but was switched to DE his freshman year. Hayes is very quick and fast for a DE (reportedly can run a 4.7) and you can see him use it in the video below. Hayes only scholarship after his senior year in high school was from Blinn College. Like I said earlier, he beefed up and became a force for Blinn and then received bigger offers from Division 1 schools. He was offered by Ohio, Purdue, and Marshall but also had calls from Kansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, and others. He is a 3-star recruit according to Rivals.com.
