Player and Play of Week 1

Player of the Week – Aaron Horne
Aaron Horne made his debut for the Cyclones last week and was a big reason the Clones escaped with a win. If you didn’t know of Aaron Horne before the game, I bet you do now. Aaron Horne came to Iowa State from City College of San Francisco along with Steele Jantz. Horne was Jantz’s go-to guy all night. Horne led the team with 7 receptions for 69 yards. On the last drive, he made the biggest play, catching a pass and taking it down to UNI’s two yard line for a 32 yard gain. The play ended up leading to the game-winning touchdown. Would the Cyclones have won without Aaron Horne? I don’t think so.
Play of the Week – Steele Jantz’s 26-yard TD pass to Josh Lenz
This play may have saved Iowa State’s season. The play happened late in the 4th quarter and the Clones were trailing by 6. Jantz and the offense were facing a 4th and 10 and State needed to convert to stay in the game. Jantz was pressured and rolled to his right and then threw the perfect pass to Lenz on the run. Please watch the video as words don’t do it justice.
