Iowa State football: Four potential kickoff times for Oklahoma game

We won’t know when Iowa State’s home football game against Oklahoma will kickoff until Sunday.

ESPN and FOX decided to use the six-day window for all but one Big 12 game. Kansas-Baylor will have a guaranteed kickoff at 3:00 PM Central time.

Here’s all the time slots and TV networks Oklahoma-ISU could be on for Saturday, November 1st. Obviously, all times are Central.

  • 11:00 AM on Fox Sports 1
  • 2:30 PM on ABC or ESPN2 (reverse mirror, AKA it would be on ABC in Iowa)
  • 6:30 PM on Fox Sports 1
  • 7:00 PM on ABC (regional)

An interesting note — Texas at Texas Tech has to be on FS1. That’s significant because generally, Oklahoma and Texas won’t play on two ESPN or FOX networks in the same week. It’s too much of a ratings boost to give one company the two big dogs in the Big 12.

That means we will likely see Oklahoma-ISU on ABC. My guess is ESPN is just waiting for the results this upcoming Saturday to find out which game to put in primetime. I’d expect to see the Sooners and Cyclones play at 2:30 PM on ABC, but I wouldn’t completely dismiss a primetime kickoff because Oklahoma games will always get ratings. I’m personally hoping for a night game and great weather — simply for tailgating purposes.

Other Big 12 games on November 1st are Oklahoma State-Kansas State, TCU-West Virginia, and the aforementioned Texas-Texas Tech and Kansas-Baylor games.

So now that I’ve broken everything down and gave my guess, NOW you can expect Oklahoma-ISU to kickoff at 11:00 AM on FS1. You’re welcome.
