We thought we’d have a little fun here at Clones Confidential and have former Cyclones face off against each other, testing their knowledge of the current landscape of college football by picking the weeks highest profile marque match-ups.  Keep track of their record throughout the year for bragging rights.

Congratulations to last week’s winner – Brian Spaen, who went 5/5.  Other results: Carmon Wilson 4/6, Bill Marsau 4/6, Nick Leaders 4/6, Marcel Howard 3/5, Brent Curvey 3/6.

Former Cyclones in this week’s pick’em are Bill Marsau, Nick Leaders, Marcel Howard, Darius Darks, R.J. Sumrall and Brent Curvey.

Without further ado, here’s Week 4.

Bill Marsau

Auburn @ Kansas State

I think this has the potential to be a pretty close game.  You can never count head coach Bill Snyder or the Wildcats out of a game.  With that being said, I think that Auburn is a step up from Kansas State when it comes to speed and athletic ability, so I think Auburn will pull this one out.

Iowa @ Pittsburgh

Iowa can’t wait to hit the field again to get the bad taste of their loss to the Cyclones out of their mouth. They will run the ball much more effectively against the Panther defense and will wear out Pittsburgh in the second half. Iowa wins this one easily.

Florida @ Alabama

Florida is much better than last season’s team. They are traveling to one of the harder places to win in America, and I think that Alabama will have too many weapons for Florida to handle. Crimson Tide will roll at home.

Utah @ Michigan

Michigan has not looked great this season, but neither has the Utes. I give the advantage to the Wolverines, who will have 100,000-plus fans screaming their heads off because they are so hungry for a quality win this season.

Oklahoma @ West Virginia

I think that West Virginia will keep it close in the first half, but the Sooners are too talented of a squad to lose to this West Virginia team. Bobby will not let his team suffer a letdown loss in this game.

“Any day the Cornhuskers get beat is a good day for me.”

Clemson @ Florida State

This is going to be the game of the week in my opinion.  They are two powerhouse teams in the ACC and there will be a lot of speed and talent on the field from both teams. This game will be close and I think the only reason Florida State pulls this one out is because they are at home.  Having last year’s Heisman QB Jameis Winston making the calls does not hurt.

Miami (FL) @ Nebraska

Any day the Cornhuskers get beat is a good day for me.  I think Nebraska is still trying to find their identity this season and this is the perfect opportunity for a team that has speed on their side to sneak into Memorial Stadium and pull out the big road win.

Oregon @ Washington State

I have no doubt that the “Pirate” (Mike Leach) will have his Cougars fired up for this home game against the Ducks.  Washington State has a quality offensive plan, but their defense will have no answer for the high octane offense of the Ducks and the best QB in the country, in my opinion, in #8 Marcus Mariota.
