Kane wins his second-straight Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award, the fourth time he received the weekly conference award and sixth time he’s picked up a weekly award including two Player of the Week awards.

Big 12 Sports explains how Kane won his award in a week that featured him nearly averaging a double-double (20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds) and shooting over 50 percent from the field.

"Kane had his sixth double-double of the year versus the Mountaineers with 17 points and 11 boards before adding 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists at K-State.  It was his 11th 20-point effort of the year  and his 18th contest with at least five assists."

Kane has been an absolute monster this season, and he remains as the only player that’s won both Big 12 awards.

Another familiar name won this week’s Player of the Week award — Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart takes home his third award in the category, which was fueled by a huge upset over Kansas on Saturday night.
