Naz Long started the pull-away in the first half. He was unconscious from the 3-point line, and finished shooting 9 of 12 from the field, 8 of 11 of that was from the perimeter. Long had a team-high 26 points.

DeAndre Kane almost had a triple-double in his regular-season debut, finishing with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Despite not having a great free throw average in his career, he made all five attempts at the charity stripe.

Foul trouble kept the game close in the first 10 minutes. Dustin Hogue left the game early with foul trouble, but almost had a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Georges Niang had similar trouble with two early, but didn’t commit a foul in the second half.

The ISU reserves made the final score look better for the Seahawks by becoming stagnant on offense and sending them to the line. UNC-Wilmington had a respectable 19 of 24 from the free throw line as a team.

Overall, the game wasn’t even close. Iowa State dominated the boards with a 51-32 advantage (+18 on the defensive rebounds), and moved the ball well with a 21-11 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Next up, the Cyclones will host Texas A&M Corpus-Christi on Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum. Tip-off will be at 7:00 PM Central time.
