Oklahoma cruised on the ground to help them win over previously undefeated Texas Tech, Texas ends up dominating TCU at Fort Worth, and Kansas is the latest victim of Baylor’s furious offense in a wet and weather delay-filled day of Big 12 football.

Oklahoma 38, Texas Tech 30

The Sooners had 207 more rushing yards than the Red Raiders with quarterback Blake Bell and three other running backs all chipping in with 42 yards or more. Damien Williams led the way with 19 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns. When Oklahoma establishes the running game under Bob Stoops (as in picking up over 200 yards on the ground in a game), they’re 60-1. Davis Webb continues to impress, almost picking up another 400-yard passing game, but his two touchdowns were negated by two interceptions on the day.

OU now puts themselves in Big 12 title contention with a huge win at home thanks to a much better day for Bell under center.

Texas 30, TCU 7

The game was delayed for three hours and six minutes in the middle of the second quarter, and just like the Longhorns normally do in halftime, they made the right adjustments to completely shut out the Horned Frogs when play resumed. TCU smartly went back to Casey Pachall at quarerback, but he definitely had rust with 21 incompletions and an interception. Again, the Horned Frogs got nothing on the ground and Texas’ tandem of Johnathan Gray and Malcolm Brown combined for 39 rushing attempts for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

It wasn’t all roses for the Longhorns though; Case McCoy looked really pedestrian and had two interceptions himself. Both teams were dreadful and creating drives, both converting just a combined 8 of 31 attempts on third down.

  • Baylor 59, Kansas 14: The Bears had 743 total yards, 31 first downs, and had the ball for just a shade over 22 minutes. The offense did get a little sloppy though, fumbling it five times and losing two of them.
  • Kansas State 35, West Virginia 12: The Wildcats’ quarterback duo of Jake Waters and Daniel Sams outlasted the Mountaineers with four unanswered touchdowns in the 2nd half. Sams was a perfect 8 of 8 passing for 93 yards and a touchdown.
  • Oklahoma State 58, Iowa State 27
