Two players on Iowa State football’s special teams have been listed on one of the premier college football awards lists on Monday.

Kirby Van Der Kamp and Edwin Arceo were added to the College Football Performance Award (CFPA) watch list, making them the second and third Cyclones to be on the list in 2013. Ernst Brun was added earlier this season.

What exactly is the CFPA?

"All CFPA recipients are selected based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions."

Van Der Kamp is arguably one of the best players on the team. Out of 77 punts in his junior season, 29 of them landed inside the 20 and 10 of them went for 50-plus yards. He averages 42.8 career yards per punt, second-best in Cyclones history.

Arceo was the placekicker last season, beating out the competition and taking all 18 of the Cyclones’ field goal attempts, nailing 12 of them. Routinely an adventure in recent history, Arceo also notably added consistency in the extra point by making 37 out of 40 attempts.
