Here’s an update on Iowa State Cyclones athletics that deserve every fan’s attention and doesn’t involve the big two sports.
Men’s Golf – Europe Falls to United States in Fulmer Cup
The Cyclones’ own Scott Fernandez (sophomore) played for Team Europe in the 2013 Fulmer Cup over the weekend, hosted at Wilmington Country Club in New Castle, Delaware.
Unfortunately for the NCAA All-American, his home team went down by a score of 20.5 to 9.5 to the US at the end of the event. The Fulmer Cup is a mixture of singles and group match play.
Here were the results of Fernandez’s play throughout the event:

- Team match play: Won with Ben Taylor against Erkenbeck and Michael Weaver (California), 4 and 3
- First-round singles: Halved against Cory Whitsett (Alabama); had six birdies in the round.
- Second-round singles: Lost against Whitsett, 3 and 2
