In a move that was possible since the 2013 football schedule came out, the Big 12 has officially moved the Texas-Iowa State football game to Thursday, October 3rd. This is the second official game for the Cyclones on a weekday.

According to the Houston Chronicle, it’s one of three games that has been moved by the Big 12 to a Thursday night. Texas Tech-TCU is now scheduled for September 12th and Baylor-Oklahoma is scheduled for November 7th. All three games were moved to accommodate a national television broadcast.

It’s still possible that the Iowa State-West Virginia game could be moved to the Friday after Thanksgiving, likely being played in the afternoon similar to last season.

No time or TV assignment has been announced, but it would be a night game on either ESPN or the new Fox Sports 1 channel debuting on August 17th. It’s expected that a number of Big 12 college football games will be moved from FSN regional networks and FX to the new sports network.

A few weeks ago, Conference USA moved the Iowa State-Tulsa game to a Thursday night. That game is now exactly a week before the game against Texas. With the newly-released information about Fox Sports 1, my prediction is that it’s likely they would pick up that contest and ESPN would broadcast Texas-Iowa State.
