Cy’s Big 12 Football Picks: Week 8

facebooktwitterreddit

Cy will try to rebound after an awful weekend that caught him completely by surprise. He was just 1-9 in straight up and betting picks, including going 0-5 against that spread. After some self-evaluation and meditation, he hopes to right the ship.

Overall record: 33-10, at the spread: 11-22 … All games are on Saturday and all times are listed as CT. All rankings are based off the coaches’ poll. Teams underlined means Cy is picking the favored team to cover the spread.

11:00am – (24)Iowa State (4-2) at Oklahoma State (3-2)
Line: OSU -14 | TV: FX

I think we all know by now that even if Iowa State was playing Alabama, I’d still pick the Cyclones. Duh. I would never not pick them and feel the disappointment of not backing them up with such a huge win. That’s why I picked ISU to upset Oklahoma State last year, and I’m doing it again this week! GO CYCLONES!! Prediction: ISU

2:30pm – (17)Texas Tech (5-1) at (23)TCU (5-1)
Line: TCU +1.5 | TV: ABC

It’s easy for any backup quarterback to play against a team with no defense. Trevone Boykin looked bad against the Cyclones but was still able to run a bit. Red Raiders won’t even let him run on them. Prediction: TTU

6:00pm – (4)Kansas State (6-0) at (13)West Virginia (5-1)
Line: WVU -2.5 | TV: FOX

At the end of the day, we keep forgetting that West Virginia is from the Big East, and they didn’t look that great down the stretch in conference play until unloading on Clemson in a BCS bowl last year. Prediction: KSU

6:00pm – Kansas (1-5) at (9)Oklahoma (4-1)
Line: OU -35 | TV: FOX Sports Networks

Blindly lay the points for the Sooners! DON’T EVEN THINK TWICE ABOUT IT!! Prediction: OU

7:00pm – Baylor (3-2) at (25)Texas (4-2)
Line: TEX -8.5 | TV: ABC

After this game, Baylor running back Jarred Salubi will be a household name after doubling his season total of 357 yards against Manny Diaz’s futile rush defense. Texas scores last in a 63-58 shootout that takes until midnight to finish. Prediction: TEX
