As you’ve probably heard by now, current Offensive Coordinator, Tom Herman, will leave Ames next year for Columbus, Ohio.  Herman will be Urban Meyer’s OC at Ohio State.  It was rumored yesterday that Herman was only going to be the QB coach, but multiple sources are now saying he is indeed the Offensive Coordinator.  This is a shock to lots of Cyclone fans as this move came out of nowhere.

"“Tom Herman has one of the bright young minds in college football,” Meyer said. “His philosophies are very similar to those of my own. I spoke to numerous colleagues about Tom and all had great things to say about him. I enjoyed our time together during the interview process and I am excited to have him on the staff.”"

Somewhat good news for Cyclone fans, Tom Herman will coach for ISU in the Pinstripe Bowl.  Herman spent the last three years as the OC for Iowa State.  It looked like both Tom Herman and Iowa State were going in the right direction with him as the coordinator.  However, you have to realize that the OC job at Ohio State, one of the most storied programs, is much better than his current position.  Herman will have a future star in QB Braxton Miller to work with.

"“To work with and for Coach Meyer is an exciting opportunity for me,” Herman said. “I am really looking forward to working with him and learning about his offensive systems. And to be able to coach with him at The Ohio State University is simply a dream come true.”"
