Missouri Staying in Big 12

Tonight Missouri’s chancellor Brady Deaton told the press of it’s commitment to the Big 12 conference.  Missouri will be around for the next 6 years as part of the new Big 12 TV contract.  Missouri reportedly had an “informal agreement” to join the SEC but will turn it down to stay in the Big 12.

The conference started with news that the presidents and chancellors accepted the resignation of Dan Beebe.  Beebe will be replaced by former Big 8 commissioner Chuck Neinas.  Deaton did not speak on the reports of a move to the SEC but did say that they were in contact with every BCS conference.

There was also a press conference in Norman tonight with university president Dan Boren.  This press conference went on around the same time as Missouri’s and told a different story than what Deaton was saying in Missouri.  Boren mostly talked about the TV rights which will ultimately give Iowa State a lot more money.

This doesn’t change anything with A&M as they are still “highly likely” to leave.
